“Ruin is the destination toward which all men rush, each pursuing his own best interest in a society that believes in the freedom of the commons. Freedom in a commons brings ruin to all.”
Garrett Hardin, The Tragedy of the Commons

This is one of the most thought-provoking essays I ever have read. The essay partially discusses through this quote that everyone who is journeying in this is world will someday find himself/herself in a very chaotic society because of the baffling concept of emancipation of the commons.
Do you believe in absolute freedom?

  1. By commons are you referring to commoners? People who don’t read, spend their lives in front of screens and their opinion is just ruminated propaganda? Anyway, your blog asks questions that make me stop and think and that doesn’t happen often. *follows you*

  2. I wrote “instead of educating” 🙂 I read yahoo or msn every day, to find out what is new. Only once in a while do I see an article I could learn from. The Media has infinite opportunities to shape minds for good, but what they feed people with instead? Celebrity affairs, reality shows, shopping… People are getting programmed to consume and make somebody rich. The media is a tool for that.
